FAQ’s.

Botox and Dermal Fillers, while both injectable, are very different from one another with different uses and outcomes. However when used separately or often in conjunction with one another, they can provide effective non-surgical results.

Below I’ve addressed the most commonly asked questions I get from my clients, as well as addressing common concerns regarding injectable procedures.. If you have any questions that are not answered here, we can discuss these in more detail during your initial consultation or feel free to contact me via the contact details below.

Is there anything I should do in preparation for my injectable treatment?

If possible please stop taking fish oils, flax seeds oils and anti-inflammatories at least a week before any scheduled treatment as this can increase your risk of bruising and bleeding. Additionally try not to schedule treatment immediately before any big event as I may decline to treat you.

How long will each treatment take?

Each treatment can vary in length due to a range of different factors. Consultations are usually an hour, regular Botox appointments are usually half an hour and filler can be anywhere from 1 hour to 2 hours. I find my clients become like old friends so this time is likely not to be all injecting time! Additionally i’m a perfectionist and I take great care and pride in achieving the best result possible for my clients.

Are Botox or dermal filler injections painful?

Needles are needles, I won’t and can’t tell you that there will be no pain or discomfort. However, the pain is very temporary. I will aim to reduce the discomfort as much as possible for you and different options can be discussed during your consultation.

Is there anything I need to avoid doing after I have a Botox or dermal filler treatment?

Aftercare for each treatment specific to that client will be discussed in detail at the consultation and on the treatment day.

However in general:

After Botox- no excessive exercise, alcohol or facial massage on the day and no brow waxing or tattooing for two weeks following the treatment.

After filler- no excessive exercise, alcohol, active skincare and makeup on the day of treatment. No overseas travel for 1 week , no dental work for 1 month and no skin treatments for two weeks following treatment.

How often will I need to have Botox® or dermal fillers?

Botox treatments usually last about 3-4 months, areas treated lightly may have a reduced longevity. We do know that with repeat treatments of Botox that the overlying skin begins to remodel overtime whereby the results tend to improve, or maintain or increase longevity.

Dermal filler treatments can last anywhere from 6-24 months depending on the product being used among other factors- during the consultation expected longevity will be discussed. Often my long-term clients will come and see me for a top up once per year where we will often tweak a few different areas.

How much will my Botox or dermal filler treatment cost?

Costs will be discussed in detail at the consultation, all options available to best address your concerns and what treatments you would benefit from will be provided. I charge $20 per unit for Botox so an average frown treatment will cost between $300-$400. Dermal filler varies between the amount of syringes required and the product being used. I only use what I absolutely need to and will always take your budget into account- i’m a normal woman too!

Are Botox® and dermal filler treatments suitable for everyone?

Short answer no- the initial part of the consultation will be a medical questionnaire to assess for potential risks or contraindications to treatment that I then will discuss with you- your safety is always paramount and at the forefront of all treatment planning.

I will not treat you if you are unwell on the day or are pregnant or breastfeeding, caution is needed with autoimmune conditions and disorders of the neuro-muscular junction.

What if I don’t like the result of my treatment?

If you don’t like the result of your Botox treatment, we will need to wait for it to wear off. If you don’t like your filler result, I can easily dissolve the product out in a timely manner with an enzyme called Hyalase.

This isn’t a situation that occurs very often. In fact, I am often sought out as a practitioner who is able to dissolve unwanted and unsightly filler treatment done by others and retreat the patient in that area for a more balanced natural result.
